שאלות ותשובותCategory: TorahThe Torah was given by G-d and underwent “renovations”
Anonymous asked Staff ago

I think that if there is any reason to believe that the Torah was given by G-d and not written by people it is the immense philosophical ideas it contains and its morality.

You reject the Torah’s morality because of Chazal’s immoral interpretations, though you reject the words of Chazal.

Even if you say that the pure Torah includes immoral things, I think they are either misunderstood or are later additions or “renovations” made by Chazal. It is known by Biblical researchers that they did make many renovations, but it is known that many of the Biblical stories were known and sung before the writing of the Torah, and few changes and only morally insignificant were made in them. Another proof that the Torah is completely moral is that one cannot say that on the one hand the judge of the world will not judge, yet on the other hand say homos will burn.

Hello.

Your words are confused, twitchy, and unclear.

Many religious people say “The Torah is moral” and when they are asked to give an example, they bring the secular values without bringing any proof of their words from Jewish literature.

Please bring proof with citations for the “morality of the Torah” and the “philosophical ideas” in the Torah.

But in your very question — just like a theologian — you maintain the right to defend your claim with the excuse “Even if you say that the pure Torah includes immoral things, I think they are either misunderstood or are later additions or “renovations” made by Chazal.” Based on this outlook, how do you expect to search for the truth?

Sincerely,
