I am a man who left religion from Lubavitch not long ago.
I don’t really understand the goals of the site and the approach of Daat Emet.
I think religion is based on faith, not on rational arguments of this or of that, such as the arguments of Daat Emet, for religion is something absolute, something one should give one’s life for.
I do not understand how to base it on rational arguments which are not absolute things.
Some expert could always come and refute the claims of his predecessor.
The question is only upon what is faith based and what becomes, as it were, absolute.
I don’t understand how it is possible to believe, or to disbelieve, based only on rational arguments in any direction.
I will be very happy to get your answer about this.
Michael Ayoshi
Dear Michael,
There is no doubt that the Jewish religion, based on a Divine revelation, cannot be refuted or verified.
Any value a person accepts upon himself cannot be rationally explained nor rationally refuted.
Daat Emet clarifies the facts of faith which exist in the Jewish religion, in contrast to the religious people, who cover religion’s nakedness.
So that my words will be clear, I will bring an example: According to the faith of the spiritual, the Divine commandment given through the Revelation at Sinai is that a woman must be disqualified from testimony and that a gentile may not be saved from death on the Sabbath. There is no room for discussion with a person who claims this as his faith; we can only fight an uncompromising battle against his despicable beliefs. But a person who claims that Judaism is humane and does not contradict democracy is a liar whose lies ought to be published.
Similarly, Daat Emet has shown up the lies and deceits of the outreach professionals who act as though there were rational claims for their faith.
Sincerely,
Daat Emet
Thank you, I understood the answer.
Indeed, I will sometimes use the wonderful material here to answer all kinds of outreach activists, and for that I thank you.
I wish you much success,
Michael Ayoshi
