Samson ground Philistine women in prison

In the Scriptural stories the tale of Samson and his battle against the Philistines is related: “Then the Philistines took him and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza. They bound him with bronze fetters, and he became a grinder in the prison” (Judges 16:21). What exactly did Samson grind? One of the scholars, Rabbi Yochanan, said that Samson would have sex with Philistine women in prison, for the term “grind” in the Scriptures means sexual relations, as can be seen from the book of Job: “Then let my wife grind for another, and let others bow down over her” (Job 31:10). From this we learn that the Philistines would give their women to Samson to impregnate. Another scholar, Rav Papa, added that what happened to Samson coincides with the folk saying that one gives wine to an alcoholic and vegetables to the farmer. Thus Samson, who busied himself with women, was brought before the Philistine women.
Rabbi Yochanan added that a man who has sexual relations with women besides his wife is surely married to a woman who has sexual relations with men other than her husband, and this can be learned from the verse “Then let my wife grind for another, and let others bow down over her.” This coincides with the folk saying that a man deals with large gourds and a woman with small gourds — both busy themselves with the same things.
(Babylonian Talmud, Tractate Sotah 10a)
